We Have a Lot of Balls in the Air

Teaching Her As To Read

I am amazed at Loree’s progress in reading.  This is one of my favorite parts of homeschooling.  Seeing them turn the corner and watching the light finally come on.  But we do have the days when she can’t be bothered with cooperating and forces me to exercise every last bit of patience left in my [...]

Menu Plan Monday~October 27

Continuing with our love affair with Dave Ramsey, I tried again to be frugal this week.  Using the word frugal makes me want to store up food and wear a head covering.
Monday
Lunch- Pepperoni Spaghetti
Dinner- Pork Chops, Roasted Potatoes, Salad with Avocados
Tuesday
Lunch- Leftover Spaghetti, Salad.  I’m learning to not be afraid of leftovers.  It goes against [...]

I’m Verklempt…

“This blog invests and believes, in ‘proximity’ [meaning, that blogging makes us 'close' - being close through proxy] “They are all charming blogs, and the majority of them aim to show the marvels of friendship; there are persons who are not interested when we give them a prize, and then they help to cut these [...]

I don’t know what they’re trying to prove…

I feel a little responsible.  I mean they’re just Barbies.  I’m not sure what the legal drinking age is in Barbie World.  I should have done my research.  I should not have left them unsupervised.  But, who knew?  I trusted that when I bought the  Barbie Margarita Machine , it was just a plastic toy.  A prop.  [...]

WFMW

Dude…what part of my brain has been shut down that caused me to forget about steel wool.  I mean, seriously!  I got rid of my Teflon* because I’m easily influenced by the media and replaced it with stainless steel.  I had been poisoning my body with Teflon* for so long, that I forgot steel wool [...]

Galveston After Ike

We took a little trip to my happy place yesterday.  I wanted to give those of you who might be wondering an update on how the clean up effort is coming along.  It was surprisingly busy.  A lot of areas are still without power, but I was surprised to see on the seawall how many businesses [...]

Menu Plan Monday

Org Junkie’s MPM.  We are working off of the first pay period while doing Dave Ramsey,  (Still, not as sexy as it sounds…)  I spent $239.39.  My budget is $300 per pay period.  We had really already cut back in this area.  I will make a trip again next week to get some produce, but [...]

The Great Wild of the ‘Burbs

My kids may have never seen a cow, but we have seen the wild.  The wild, barbaric ways of the neighborhood cats and squirrels.  As my kids venture to the cul-de-sac, they know that danger lurks.  They know that at any moment, nayure might show them her worst.  Like today…

We decided to put our science [...]

Falinter!

Octamom posed a question on her blog:

What is your favorite season and why?
This is a no-brainer for this Texas girl.  It’s Falinter!  It’s those few weeks we have every year when it dips below 80 degrees.  Brrrrrr!  I know.  We get our first cold front usually at the beginning of November and the temperature dips way [...]

Works for me Wednesday~Learning by Assmosis

This one would just as soon stand on her head than sit at a table to do her school work.  And nothing is more fun for her than making a “desk”.  She uses the piano bench, storage boxes and yes…books for chairs and chairs for desks.  Hey, whatever works, man.
