We Have a Lot of Balls in the Air

Galveston After Ike

We took a little trip to my happy place yesterday.  I wanted to give those of you who might be wondering an update on how the clean up effort is coming along.  It was surprisingly busy.  A lot of areas are still without power, but I was surprised to see on the seawall how many businesses [...]

Bolivar and the Galveston Seawall

Last summer, on one of our trips to Galveston, Darren captured this shot.  He and I took the ferry over to the Bolivar Peninsula so we could get away from our kids have some alone time.

This is a shot of the Seawall.  It’s hard to imagine that just a week ago the waves were crashing [...]

Ike…

He’s bearing down on us.  We still haven’t seen any wind or rain.  We’re making pizza and watching Galveston get hammered.  The rednecks are out in force.  The storm surge of Bud Light is taking over our street.  Does FEMA cover that?

The Beach

Beach Family Beach Time at the Beach…don’t say beach again

We ventured to the other side of Galveston Island with our kids this weekend.  This area has so much character and personality.  It’s right near the harbor from where the cruise ships arrive and depart.  It has all sorts of quaint shops and restaurants and super cool lofts in the historical architecture.  And trolleys!

This is [...]

“Phreaks in a Phone Booth” or “Freaks in a Fone Booth”

My kids love to walk around on the Strand in Galveston.  We met my parents there this weekend for a little extended family beach time.  This area has a giant chess board with pieces almost as big as my freaks.  Near the chess board is this cool phone booth.  The freak posse thought it would be fun [...]
